The Improvised Shakespeare Co.

THE IMPROVISED SHAKESPEARE CO.

Based on one audience suggestion (a title of a show that has never been written), The Improvised Shakespeare Company® creates a fully improvised Shakespearean masterpiece right before your eyes. Nothing has been planned out, rehearsed, or written. All of the dialogue is said for the first time, the characters are created as you watch, and if ever you're wondering where the story is going...so are they! You've never seen the Bard like this before!

The Improvised Shakespeare Company, has been performing its critically-acclaimed show to sold out audiences in Chicago since 2005. The ISC also continues to entertain audiences across the US with its national touring company. They have been featured at the Piccolo Spoleto Fringe Festival, Off Broadway in New York City, Bonnaroo, the Bumbershoot Music and Arts Festival, Outside Lands, San Francisco Sketchfest, UCB’s Del Close Marathon, and the prestigious Just For Laughs festival in Montreal and Chicago. The ISC has been named Chicago's best improv group by both the Chicago Reader and the Chicago Examiner and has received numerous awards in LA (Best of LA-LA Weekly), New York (New York Nightlife Awards), and Chicago (The Chicago Improv Foundation).

Matt Damon Improv

MATT DAMON IMPROV

The cast of Chicago’s Matt Damon Improv is comprised of all women of color “slaying improv comedy,” sometimes featuring a special guest white male (Matt Damon) or female (Lena Dunham) improv comedy veteran who can only speak when repeating things that the women of Matt Damon Improv have already said in the show – forcing the guest Matt Damon/Lena Dunham to really listen and take a baby step in a woman of color’s shoes.

The weekly variety show will also showcase guest stand-up, sketch comedy, and solo performance acts by women of color. Each weekly show promises to be “Intersectional AF” and provide a safe platform for women of color to share performances that confront the current racial tension and social issues within the world around us.

Ben has also appeared twice on ABC’s hit game show, Wipeout – one time as a normal contestant, and most recently in the All-Star Episode. He lost both times, but would still go back for a third helping of pain if asked. Most recently filmed his own half hour special for Comedy Central and performed on John Oliver’s NY Stand Up Special. He currently resides in New York City where he creates original content for the web and is starring in a stand-up comedy based pilot that is currently in production.
